5 Things Inspiring Me This Week
I woke up to a beautiful morning in Nashville today – the sun is out, and there is a hint of spring in the air. There is snow in the forecast tomorrow, so I plan to get outdoors and soak up all the sunshine I possibly can today. First, though, here are a few of the things that are inspiring me this week:
1. Valentine’s Day DIYs
My husband is such a romantic, while I tend to be a bit more… resistant? It’s not easy to sweep me off my feet, but I do love that we dedicate a holiday to celebrating the relationships in our lives that bring us love and joy. My mom has always made a big deal out of Valentine’s Day, and that is probably a big reason why it means so much to me as an adult.
The commercial side of Valentine’s Day can sometimes really put a damper on the spirit of the holiday. A handmade gift for the one (or ones) you love. Here are a few DIYs to get you started: READ MORE
3 Things Inspiring Me This Week
I know it’s been almost a week since my last update, and I want to thank you for your patience and support. Your comments last Friday were so thoughtful, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your words of encouragement. We are almost finished unpacking, and life is resuming its normal pace again. Chris and I have been unpacking nonstop. I can see the floor of my closet, and boxes no longer fill my living room. What better time to take a break and share a few of the things that are inspiring me this week?
1. J.D. Salinger
I’ve been reading Nine Stories, a collection of short stories by J.D. Salinger. His stories are so rich and compelling, but from the standpoint of technique, they are full of genius, as well. Sadly, Salinger passed away last week. Read the write-up in the New York Times here.

5 Things + Change is Gonna Come
I hope you all have had a wonderful week/weekend celebrating the Christmas holiday. After a twenty-two-hour road trip, driving on an interstate/ice rink, a car tow, and too much fast food, I am finally enjoying the break at my in-laws in Colorado. The weather is beautiful here, and I am soaking in every minute. We’re going skiing Tuesday – the perfect way to cap off a proper Colorado vacation.
I can hardly believe 2010 is just around the corner. The New Year is full of good things for me personally and for Creative Perch. Just the first month is already packed! My full-time work will resume January 1, classes begin January 4, and Chris and I are moving to Nashville January 23. With the New Year just a few days away and so many good things on the horizon, I’ve decided to focus this week on the amazing changes that will be happening here at Creative Perch.

3 Things Inspiring Me This Week
I’m in Nashville this weekend house-hunting and spending time with friends and family. I thought I’d take a minute to share a few things that are inspiring me this week.
1. Holly Kaiser | Sta-J Designs
My friend Holly surprised me this weekend with an adorable scarf that she crocheted for me. Holly is a talented crafter, but she really gets into her groove when she is creating a custom piece, and I always love seeing her creations. She told me she already has ten to twelve custom orders for the holiday season. We just recently launched her website (www.Sta-JDesigns.com), and I am so excited to see where this journey takes her.
