Art is Everywhere. This Week: “Thin Places” by Kevin Kaiser

Kevin Kaiser posted this video on his blog last Friday. It is so on the mark, so I asked him for permission to post it here. I hope you’ll take two and a half minutes out of your day to watch it. You’ll leave more inspired and ready to tackle the next thing.

(You probably noticed that Kevin is on my list of 5 Creative Bloggers to Watch in 2010. After you watch this, you’ll know why.)

Stanford + Steve Jobs

Check out the moving commencement speech offered by Steve Jobs at Stanford University. To anyone else who is weighing the value of a standard college degree or who is on the brink of change – take fifteen minutes and listen to a person who started out with much against him, chose an unorthodox route, and found success through hard work and creativity.

My Moleskine Project

My husband helped me create this little video of my Moleskine project in which I attempted to visually journal an entire week. It was a lot of fun and definitely helped me stay in a creative frame of mind. Hope you enjoy!

First Video Blog

I thought you guys might like to be able to match a face/voice with the words you read here each day. I’m not always a fan of Vlogs, but I thought it might bring variety and creativity to the site. Let me know what you think!

Michael Jackson, King of Innovation

The world is morning yesterday’s loss of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. I won’t rehash the details of his passing here – it’s all over the news, and I’d rather respect his memory and honor him here for his contributions to the world.

Michael Jackson was the King of Pop because he was always willing to push the limits – his own physical limits, racial limits, social limits, and the limits of music, music production, and even technology. When it came to innovation, he still reigned King.

When I first saw this clip, I turned to my husband and said, “How is that even possible?” Turns out MJ had a patent on gravity-defying footwear. Amazing, isn’t it?

Dan Macsai at Fast Company was the first (that I know of) to share this story. Read more details about Michael Jackson and his tap on the patent market here.
