This Week: Maximize Resources
As we near the holidays, I think we’re all cognizant of the fact that the recession isn’t quite over yet. In many ways it feels like now is the time to be frugal and conserve, rather than spend. Personally, while there are many resources out there that I would love to purchase, many of them have found there way on to my wishlist rather than my shopping cart.
However, that doesn’t mean that my well of creative resources has to dry up. Far from it! Instead, now is the perfect time to maximize the incredible arsenal of resources I have at my finger tips.
Here are a few ways I am maximizing my resources (and my creative inspiration):
- Reading (and sometimes re-reading) books. I tend to stockpile books. It’s a habit I’ve had since I was probably six or seven, which means that I often have books on my shelf that I haven’t read yet. 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women is one such book. If you don’t have unread books on your shelf, consider hitting up the library. You might be surprised at the level of resources they have. And what can be better than free?
- Take advantage of the blogosphere. I still subscribe to 50+ blogs via RSS. When I need a burst of inspiration, catching up on my favorite blogs is my first go-to.
- Connect in community. One of the best things I have done to help me connect in a community of bloggers was Darren Rowse’s program called 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. Participating in the forums and connecting with other bloggers was a launching point for me in terms of staying inspired. I am so thankful for the individuals I met through that course. There are many great forums for different niches available on the Web, many of which are free. In fact, we are beta launching our own set of forums here on Creative Perch. Stay tuned for details!
