Inventors, innovators, product designers, and concept artists unite!
There’s a strong argument that innovation and new product ideas are discouraged in America by the bureaucratic process. It’s one thing to have a brilliant idea; surviving getting the product or idea to market is another thing entirely. Consequently, the (idea-squashing) process of thinning out the herd… has led to a much smaller herd.
Smaller herd, fewer brilliant ideas.
One company refused to give into the crush. The makers of Kluster now bring you Quirky – a community of product designers that gives inventors a real shot at seeing their products make it to market. Ideas are submitted for a fee; then members of the community review the idea, eventually voting on the best idea of the week. Products with enough commitments from buyers get produced.
The financial incentives are among the best offered in the product design marketplace. Inventors receive 12% of proceeds; participants in the review process receive their share (as measured by activity) of another 18%.
